On Friday, January 12th, seventeen students from fourth and fifth grades competed in the 2018 A.C.E.S. School-wide Spelling Bee. The seventeen participants were selected because they were the first place winners in their Classroom Spelling Bee. They were Maelee Miles, Thomas Lewis, Zy’Rhianna Carter, Nahdiya Carter, Kimia Moore, Jariah Mumford, Sophie Lewis, Gabriel Fennell, Omrie Solomon, Amelia Lott, Mariah Rogers, Samuel Landivar, Annabelle Campbelle, Bethani Williams, Kamiya Bentley, Ashlynn Hampton, and Ashley Ruiz. Multiple rounds were completed before the two finalists were identified. The first place winner is Omrie Solomon of Mrs. Yawn’s 4th grade homeroom. The second place winner is Mariah Rogers from Mrs. Dowdney’s 5th grade homeroom. Omrie will go on to compete in the Appling County System-wide Spelling Bee at the Board of Education on Monday, February 5th.
